Larian Studios will release the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3 next Tuesday, April 15. This last patch concludes our journey with the award-winning RPG that began in early access back in 2020.
Patch 8 brings three major additions to the game. Players will receive a new sub-class for every main class, enabling fresh character builds and gameplay styles. The update also introduces cross-play functionality, allowing friends to adventure together regardless of their platform. Finally, a photo mode will let players capture their favorite moments throughout the Forgotten Realms.
Celebration Stream Planned
I can confirm Larian will mark this release with a special livestream hosted by Aoife Wilson, the studio‘s senior communications developer. She’ll be joined by Ross Stephens, senior systems designer, who will provide complete details about everything included in the update.
The team conducted several community stress tests recently to ensure a smooth launch, despite one incident where the update accidentally went live early on PlayStation 5.
This update truly represents the end of an era for Larian Studios, which won’t be developing Baldur’s Gate 4. Hasbro is already searching for another developer to continue the franchise.
