Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has reached an impressive milestone. The turn-based RPG from French developer Sandfall has sold one million copies since its April 24 release, with half of those sales occurring on the first day alone.
Game Continues to Impress Players
The game follows a group of brave Expeditioners on a mission to defeat the Paintress, a mysterious entity who annually inscribes a number on a monolith. This number condemns everyone of that age to death, gradually reducing the population as the numbers decrease.
Kepler Interactive announced the sales achievement on social media, noting that the figure “includes units shipped to retailers, and does not encompass our awesome GamePass players!”
Critical Reception
Critics have been impressed with the game. In his review, Engadget’s Mat Smith described Expedition 33 as “a gorgeously made and well-considered world” and “a solid, enjoyable RPG.”
The game is currently available for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, giving players across multiple platforms the opportunity to experience this breakout hit from Sandfall’s debut offering.
