Could Nintendo Announce the Switch 2 Earlier Than Planned?

Leaked designs of the Nintendo Switch 2 might make Nintendo reveal their new gaming console earlier than expected, says expert Serkan Toto from Kantan Games.

In September, the first images of the Switch 2 prototype were leaked, giving gamers a look at its outer design and some internal parts. More recently, various accessory manufacturers have started displaying their Switch 2 products, providing an even clearer picture of the upcoming console. The new design looks like a simple upgrade to the current Switch, with a slightly bigger size. Notable changes include magnetic Joy-Con attachments and an extra button positioned beneath the Home button on the right Joy-Con.

Launch Timeline and Industry Impact

Nintendo is under growing pressure to officially reveal the Switch 2, especially with the current Switch’s sales slowing down. While the company officially has until March 31, 2025, to reveal the console, Toto believes an announcement could arrive much sooner. “Nintendo might choose early January for the announcement, considering the current situation with leaks,” Toto explained. With so many leaks coming out, Nintendo might have to speed up their plans to announce the Switch 2.

The Switch 2 is expected to launch in late 2025, bringing some exciting updates for fans. Metroid Prime 4 will probably make its debut on this console. Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will support backward compatibility, so players can still enjoy their current Switch games. Fans are excitedly waiting for more official details as Nintendo prepares to take its gaming to the next level.
