Diablo 4 Gets Three New Seasons in 2025 with Big Game Changes

Good news for Diablo 4 players, Blizzard has confirmed that three more seasons are coming in 2025. Each one will bring new seasonal powers and big upgrades to endgame features like Nightmare dungeons and Infernal Hordes.

The roadmap details what players can expect during the upcoming “Year of Hatred” which includes two crossover events with other franchises. We already know about the next season, Belial’s Return, which will feature the Lord of Lies making his comeback alongside a major overhaul of the game’s Lair Boss endgame system.

The following seasons revealed in the roadmap are what’s generating buzz among players. Season 9, called “Sins of the Horadrim,” will run from July through September. This season introduces new seasonal powers, enhanced Nightmare dungeon activities, and keyboard and mouse support for console players – a feature many have requested since launch.

Later in 2025, Season 10’s “Infernal Chaos” will update the roguelike Infernal Hordes endgame content while giving players new Chaos Powers to experiment with. Each of these upcoming seasons will continue the recent tradition of allowing players to earn a new pet for collecting gold and materials through seasonal journeys, something Blizzard implemented starting with Season 7.

Mystery Crossovers Coming

The roadmap teases two franchise collaborations, with one scheduled during Season 8 in the coming months and another during Season 10 between September and December. Blizzard hasn’t revealed which franchises these will be, but mentioned in their blog post that they’ll partner with “universes” that complement Diablo’s “dark themes.”

Last year, Diablo 4 crossed over with World of Warcraft, offering cosmetic armor sets and a free mount bundle. This made sense given both are fantasy properties under the Blizzard umbrella. The gaming community is curious about what other franchises might fit within Sanctuary’s dark, gothic world.

Next Expansion in 2026

Blizzard confirmed what general manager Rod Fergusson had previously mentioned – no new expansion will arrive in 2025, despite earlier promises of annual expansions. The roadmap officially places the next expansion in 2026, along with a new ranking system and leaderboard.

There’s also something mysterious planned for 2026, represented by a flame-engulfed entry on the roadmap. While this could potentially be a new character class, fans will need to wait for official details as we get closer to 2026.

In more immediate news, Diablo 4 Season 8 was recently pushed back two weeks to April 29. Fergusson explained this delay was necessary to “serve the game, not the plan.” When Season 8 finally arrives, players should expect a more challenging and slower-paced experience compared to Season 7. Blizzard is decreasing experience gains at lower levels and increasing Torment difficulties to prevent players from reaching maximum level and the highest difficulty tier (Torment 4) during a single weekend of play.
