Japanese Highway Racing Gets a Fresh Start After 18 Years

A new chapter in the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series launches on January 23rd through Steam Early Access, after 18 years, the series is finally back! For just $30 during Early Access, you can enjoy high-speed racing on Japan’s iconic Shuto Expressway.

Current Game Features and Content

The Early Access version is packed with exciting content right from the start. You’ll face over 200 unique rival racers, each with their own story. Choose from 50 different vehicles and race across 180 kilometers of the faithfully recreated Shuto Expressway. The gameplay focuses on SP battles and lets you customize your car in detail as you progress through about half of the full game.

Development Timeline

The developers are planning a short Early Access phase of about 4 months, using community feedback to shape the final version. When the full version (1.0) is ready, the price will probably go up. If you’re excited to jump in, you can start racing as early as 8am GMT on the release day.

Racing fans are excited about the return of this classic series, even though the current trailers and screenshots are a bit limited. If you’re looking for other highway racing games, you can still check out Night-Runners Prologue. This comeback is bringing fresh energy to the genre and offers a great way for both longtime fans and new players to enjoy the thrill of Japanese highway racing.
