Marvel Rivals Adds The Thing and Human Torch in Exciting New Update

Marvel Rivals, the popular hero shooter made with NetEase Games, is getting two big additions from the Fantastic Four. Ben Grimm (The Thing) and Johnny Storm (Human Torch) will join the game’s lineup on February 21, 2025, bringing the full team together.

Earlier in Season 1, Marvel Rivals introduced Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic) and Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), each bringing unique gameplay styles. Richards used his stretchy abilities for creative combat moves, while Sue used her invisibility for stealth tactics. Now, The Thing and Human Torch are set to join them in the upcoming Season 1.5 update. While their abilities haven’t been revealed yet, the update will also include major balance changes, as mentioned in a recent developer blog post.

Ranked Play Changes and Rewards

The mid-season update will bring big changes to the ranked system. When it goes live, all players will drop four divisions. For example, if you’re in Diamond I, you’ll move down to Platinum II. NetEase has explained their ranking system plan, new seasons will have a six-division drop, while mid-season updates will lower ranks by four divisions. They also said they’re open to adjusting this system based on player feedback.

The ranked system update adds new rewards for competitive players. Those in Gold rank will get exclusive costumes, while top players in Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All (top 500) will earn special Crests of Honor to show off their achievements.

Marvel Rivals continues to add new content, with fresh characters arriving every six weeks. Fans are speculating that Blade, the vampire hunter, could be next, though there’s no official confirmation yet. In the meantime, players can get excited for The Thing and Human Torch, who will join the game next week, adding even more variety to the superhero lineup.
