Former Nintendo executive Sean shared on the Kit and Krysta Nintendo podcast that the Switch 2 might launch in June 2025. He previously worked in Nintendo’s U.S. retail marketing and strategy teams and explained that summer releases are a smart choice since students will be finishing school and have more free time.
Nintendo will reveal more details about the Switch 2 during the Nintendo Direct presentation on April 2. Gamers are already speculating about the release date, and many believe it could be May 22. This date stands out because it follows the same timing as the original Switch’s announcement and launch.
Price Points
The price of the Switch 2 is still unknown, even to retailers. Analysts expect it to be around $399, within the usual $300-400 range. Sean, who worked in Nintendo’s retail strategy team, explained that stores usually get pricing and launch details only a week or two before they’re officially announced. Because of this, he warns against believing retailer “leaks” about inside information.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is a big step forward for the company. Microsoft plans to bring more games to the system, along with many other third-party developers. Experts believe this could mean the Switch 2 will get more major game releases than the original Switch. This is a change from Nintendo’s usual approach, as their past consoles often had fewer third-party games compared to Xbox and PlayStation.
Gamers are eagerly waiting for official details in the upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation. The Switch 2, the follow-up to the hugely popular Switch, is launching at a time of major changes in gaming. It could play a big role in shaping Nintendo’s future in the industry.
