Nintendo Switch 2 Reveals New Joy-Con Release Trick

A new video on the Nintendo Switch 2 website shows how the updated Joy-Con controllers detach. It features a trigger on the back that lets you easily release them from the console.

Technical Details Behind the Release

The video shows that to release the Joy-Con, you press the trigger gently and then push it firmly. Some viewers noticed a small cylinder inside the top of the controller that moves back when the Joy-Con is removed, likely helping it detach smoothly from the console.

The design looks similar to a 3D-printed prototype that Genki, a gaming accessory company, showed during their CES presentation. There are still unanswered questions about how the Joy-Con attaches, with some guessing it might use magnets. Nintendo hasn’t shared any details yet, but fans are excited for the Nintendo Direct on April 2nd, where they hope to get answers about the Switch 2’s features.
