Reports indicate that Nintendo is preparing to launch its next console, possibly called the “Nintendo Switch 2.” Although details are limited, leaks suggest this new system might include exciting features that could make it a standout.

Cooling and Power Upgrades

One of the most interesting rumors surrounds the console’s cooling system. Unlike its predecessor, the new device reportedly features a second cooler, potentially housed in the dock. This addition could allow for improved performance when the console is connected to a TV, addressing one of the original Switch’s limitations.

Power enthusiasts will be pleased to hear about a possible 60W charger, suggesting faster charging capabilities. This upgrade would be a welcome improvement for on-the-go gaming sessions.

According to industry insiders, the heart of the new console will be an NVIDIA Tegra 239 SoC. This chip combines an Ampere GPU architecture boasting 1280 CUDA Cores with 8 Cortex A78 Arm CPU Cores, all backed by a hefty 12 GB of RAM. Game cards are rumored to utilize Samsung’s 5th generation V-NAND technology, offering impressive read speeds of up to 1.4 GB/s.

The system is expected to support NVIDIA’s DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction technologies, bringing enhanced visuals to Nintendo’s library. However, it’s worth noting that even with these advancements, the new console may not match the raw power of current-gen competitors like the Xbox Series S or Steam Deck.

While many hoped for a 2024 release, current projections point to a March 2025 launch window. This timeline would mark roughly eight years since the original Switch hit store shelves. We expect Nintendo to officially reveal the system sometime this fall, so stay tuned for more concrete details in the coming months.
