Nintendo recently uploaded their iconic 1991 SNES television advertisement alongside a brand new recreation featuring Paul Rudd for the Nintendo Switch 2. The Hollywood actor returns to promote Nintendo’s latest console over thirty years after his original appearance.
The original ad showcased games like F-Zero, Pilotwings, Sim City, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Now Rudd returns wearing the same beaded necklace from the 90s commercial.
Price Updates for Switch 2 Accessories
I learned Nintendo has revealed information about how US tariffs will affect the Switch 2 launch. Several accessories have seen price increases. Joy-Con 2 controllers now cost $95, up by $5. Similar $5 increases apply to the Switch 2 Pro controller (now $85) and the Switch 2 camera (now $55).
The good news is the Nintendo Switch 2 console itself maintains its original price point of $450, while the bundle including Mario Kart World remains at $500 for now. These pricing decisions come as Nintendo navigates changing market conditions while preparing for their next generation console launch.
